This has been on my mind for a long while and I am looking for your ideas, suggestions and input. We will discuss this at our leader meeting next week.
So here is the Situation:
Every Sunday we have anywhere from 20-30 HS students who choose to attend Main Service or serve in Childrens Ministry instead of attending X-Ray. Both of these decisions are not bad decisions but ultimately my desire is to see students connected and attending our youth services. Some of these students are regular attenders and some have never stepped foot into X-Ray. So I see two target groups that we need to reach.
1. Students who have never attended X-Ray
- Most likely come with thier parents.
- They sit in main service every week.
- Not interested in checking out something new.
What are some practical and realistic ideas for reaching these students?
2. Students who choose not to attend X-Ray
- Feeling dissatisfied with "youth church"
- Don't like style of service.
- Don't like preaching.
- Don't like atmosphere.
- Not connected to peers.
How do we "get them back"? What is it that has caused these students to choose not to attend X-Ray? Why ultimately have they chosen to disconnect from there peers?
Take some time think about it feel free to post your comments below. And I look forward to our meeting on the 1st.
