HS Students Choosing Main Service
So here is the Situation:
Every Sunday we have anywhere from 20-30 HS students who choose to attend Main Service or serve in Childrens Ministry instead of attending X-Ray. Both of these decisions are not bad decisions but ultimately my desire is to see students connected and attending our youth services. Some of these students are regular attenders and some have never stepped foot into X-Ray. So I see two target groups that we need to reach.
1. Students who have never attended X-Ray
- Most likely come with thier parents.
- They sit in main service every week.
- Not interested in checking out something new.
What are some practical and realistic ideas for reaching these students?
2. Students who choose not to attend X-Ray
- Feeling dissatisfied with "youth church"
- Don't like style of service.
- Don't like preaching.
- Don't like atmosphere.
- Not connected to peers.
How do we "get them back"? What is it that has caused these students to choose not to attend X-Ray? Why ultimately have they chosen to disconnect from there peers?
Take some time think about it feel free to post your comments below. And I look forward to our meeting on the 1st.

Spring Break for SLG's
Please don't loose contact of your students over the break. Call them, check in on them and encourage them. Take this break and invest in a few of your students outside the walls of the church possibly at their baseball or softball games or even over a cup of coffee.
Have a great week

Winter Camp
2 Things
- In your LG's tonight I want to ask all leaders to get a feel for where our students are at on winter camp. We only have about three weeks before we leave and still have about 40 spots left. Please encourage your students to get signed up ASAP. Also if money is an issue for them please help them understand that it isn't all they need to do is come and talk to me . I understand that these are hard times for many of our families and we are prepared to offer more scholarships for students who need them.
- As of now I am still on the hunt for 1 female leader for winter camp please let me know if you are available.
Weekend Wrap Up
Lesson Topic:
How Not To Get Caught
Attendance: c -
Attendance was down from the last few weeks, can't pin point why. A good reminder to promote Sunday services even in our LG's.
'Fun Factor':
c -
No game, one silly video but over all pretty much worship and preaching.
Volunteer Involvement:
d -
We were back down to a few of us. We will be sending reminder emails about SLG leaders attending one Sunday a month. Hopefully this will help.
Student Involvement: a+++ -
Students made up the band and also assisted with check-in and lights. There was a new spark in students a small group has been getting together to pray at 10:30 before the service, feel free to join them. Also students have stepped up to welcome and hand out bulletins.
Worship: b -
Worship was good. Ethan first time leading in HS, he did a great job leading us in worship.
Message Quality:
a+++ -
I know it's like grading your own test! But this message was good and I really got to preaching! One of the big home runs was the idea giving in to temptation creates a calloused heart and after some time we fail to realize the damage Sin has done in our life because we have become calloused.
Length of Message:
LONG! 62 minutes (and I left some of my message out)
Student Response:
b -
Good comments and conversations after service.
